Scouts

If you’re a parent, there is no need to convince you of the importance of scouting in teaching our children good values and service to God and country. Although there are no troops that meet at Nativity, we have organized our scouts for various religious activities and awards.

From the beginning of the ecclesiastical year, our scouts get involved in several service activities which include food and/or clothing collections for the needy. Toiletries are collected and stuffed into a pair of socks for men and women who arrive at shelters with nothing but the clothes on their backs and children in their arms. Every spring, we rally the scouts together to beautify our church grounds. These activities frequently can earn a service patch which they would not be able to earn through their secular troop activities. Scouts can also earn religious awards developed by the Eastern Orthodox Council on Scouting (EOCS). The St. George award is for grades 1 through 3, the Chi-Rho for grades 4 through 6, and the challenging Alpha-Omega award for grades 6 through 12 for the most dedicated scouts.
